But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: -1 Peter 2:9
As followers of Christ, as chosen, as royal priests, as a holy nation, as a peculiar people, we are called to shew forth the praises of God. Exangellō is the Greek word for “shew forth.” It means to tell out; to declare abroad; divulge; publish; to make known by praising or proclaiming; to celebrate.
We are called to celebrate God. We celebrate each other. We celebrate birthdays, graduations, promotions, marriages, homeruns and touchdowns. How often do we really celebrate God? How often do we brag on him? You have to KNOW him to brag on him. You have to have a relationship with him to be privy to what He is doing. Right?
We are called to publish God’s praises. Praises are defined as virtues. His virtues are what He thinks by what he says or how He acts; His excellence; His power; His perfections; His valor (manliness)
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. Psalm 73:28
We must declare all His works to show all who He is. We cannot abide, sit or hangout in the darkness. He is not there. God has CALLED US OUT of the darkness. He has removed the scales on our eyes that were blinding us. He has redeemed us from circumstances of hopelessness. He has beckoned us into His marvelous, wonderful, extraordinary, striking, surprising, passing human comprehension, amazing light where things become clear or manifest.
We are chosen and peculiar in order to celebrate our Amazing Father God.
“He is the First and the Last. The Beginning and the End. He’s the Keeper of creation And the Creator of all. He’s the Architect of the universeand the Manager of all time. He always was, always is and always will be.” -Priscilla Shirer
I enCOURAGE you, chosen, royal priest, holy and set apart, peculiar treasure, sparkling gem, to arise into your calling for such a time as this. Celebrate our Father who has called you out of your darkest dark and into his amazing light. You have and assignment from the King of Kings, Creator of the Universe. Declare His praises. He has people to save, touch and heal through you.
