POWER BEHIND THE NAME (pt.1)

“John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 1:4-5 NKJV)

Anytime we get an email, text, or letter in the mail, the first thing we look at, is who is it from? Can you imagine getting an email from “John” and it having the same contents as the letter of Revelation to the Seven Churches in Asia Minor?

Can you you imagine the “From:” line reading…

From: Him who is and who was and who is to come…

This is a throwback to the Name of God, YHVH, revealed first to Moses in Exodus 34:5-7. We write it as Jehovah and as LORD.

Father God also revealed more of Whom the letter was from in the Old Testament by His compound names of Jehovah:

Jehovah Adonai: The LORD GOD (Exodus 34:23) Him who is God and who was God and who is God to come

Jehovah Jireh: The LORD My Provider (Genesis 22:14) Him who is my Provider and who was my Provider and who is my Provider to come

Jehovah Nissi: The LORD My Banner( which implies Protector-Exodus 17:15) Him who is my Banner and who was my Banner and who is my Banner/Protector to come

Jehovah Roi: The LORD My Shepherd (Pslam 23:1) Him who is my Shepherd and who was my Shepherd and who is my Shepherd to come

Jehovah Tsidkinu: The LORD Our Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6, 33:16) Him who is our Righteousness who was our Righteousness and who is our Righteousness to come.

Jehovah Shalom: The LORD Peace (Judges 6:24) Him who is Peace and who was Peace and who is Peace to come.

Jehovah Rapha: The LORD Your Healer (Exodus 15:26) Him who is your Healer and who was your Healer and who is your Healer to come.

Do you get the picture? Do you see the magnitude of WHOM the letter was from? John was writing it, but it was FROM the LORD, God the Father, mentioned above. It was from all the power, authority and love behind the NAME of God.

The letter was also FROM the Holy Spirit and the Son of God. There is power in just the “FROM” in Revelation 1.

I enCOURAGE you to meditate on the NAME and Names of God. He is all that and more! He wants you to know His NAME! He is everything, was everything and is to come everything!

There is POWER in HIS NAME!
