“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply.(Gen 1:28 NKJV)

Want to know the heart of God for your life? Grab hold of these truths:  God is good.  God is great.  God is love.  God only wants the best for us. He has blessed us, and He wants us to be fruitful and multiply in ALL we do.

The Creator created us to create. The Maker made us to make.  The Producer produced us to produce.

In the Bible the VERY FIRST thing God did after creating man and woman was to bless them.   He spoke favor and prosperity over mankind.  Hello? That is you and me.  God is good and His will is that we live a blessed life in Him.

From where does the desire for children and the desire to abundantly bless our offspring  come?    It is from God.  He passes His desires (through us to our children.  I love blessing my kids.   Don’t you?  Jesus said:  “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”  (MAT 7:11 NKJV)  How much more does God want to bless His children?  How much love does God have for His kids?  ABUNDANT LOVE.

Think about it.  He gave us His very best in His Son, Jesus.  He blessed us beyond anything we could ever ask or think.  He blessed us with everything in Jesus.  We can never ask Him for anything greater than the gift of Jesus.  ABUNDANT BLESSING.

In John 10:10 Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly.”   ABUNDANT LIFE.

The Lord also says in Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  This is the heart of God.  ABUNDANT PROSPERITY.

The next thing God did after creating and blessing His creation was tell them to be fruitful and multiply.  For a while now,  I have been chewing on those words.    I spoke Genesis 1:28 over both of my sons and daughters- in-love  at their rehearsal dinners in the same context that I believe God spoke it in Genesis.  “I want grandbabies and lots of them! Be fruitful and multiply.”

Why did God encourage us to “be fruitful and multiply” and what does that mean?  It must encompass more than just having lots of babies, however, that in itself is more than enough.

My greatest joys after the Lord and my husband are our boys.  My  greatest desire for them is to know the Lord and grow in Him.  Then, my hope is they grow their families, are  productive and successful in all they do.

When a child is born,  the love a parent has for that tiny being is indescribable.  We are expecting  the beginning of a new generation of Phillips’ this June.  We can hardly wait for his arrival and for our son and daughter-in-love to experience the life-changing love that will come at baby Phillips’ birth.  Being fruitful and multiplying is experiencing God’s ABUNDANT LOVE.

What does it mean to be fruitful?  Simply, it means to bear fruit.  To be fruitful and multiply means to be very productive; producing fruit in abundance; being plenteous; abounding in anything; productive in anything; fertile.  ABUNDANT PRODUCE.

“And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.” (Deu 7:13 NKJV) This is  ABUNDANT EVERYTHING.

Being fruitful is a theme woven throughout scripture.  As we read the Bible we see verbiage like, fruit of the loin,  fruit of the womb, fruit of the mouth, fruit of the body, fruit of the land, fruit of the vine, fruit of labor, fruit of doings, fruit of thoughts, and fruit of the Spirit. Fruit, fruit, fruit, the word talks a lot about fruit.

Jesus said, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” (John 15:16 NKJV)

We were created and blessed to bear much fruit in everything we do, body, soul, and spirit.

Jesus also said,  “I am the vine, you [are] the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV).  And, in Philippians 4:13, Paul tells us, we do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

I enCOURAGE you to be fruitful and multiply in all you do,  whether it is family, love, work, play, speaking, writing, painting, giving, baking, organizing, sharing the good news, or adding to the kingdom of God.  Do it all for the glory of God and ABUNDANTLY PRODUCE in Him.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”  and “that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing [Him], being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”  (3 John 1:2; Colossians 1:10 NKJV]

ABUNDANT FRUIT IN EVERY GOOD WORK.

Live abundantly.  Breathe abundantly.  Be… fruitful and abundant!
