“To comfort those who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…” -Isaiah 61:2-3
Comfort is the Hebrew word, nacham, which means to forcibly draw breath; to lament; grieve and to ease. Console means to lay hands upon. Jesus understands. He came to comfort and console us through the mourning. Mourning is a place we have to go to sometimes, but it is not a place to stay. Jesus will mourn with us. However, he will also console us by laying his hands upon us to help us through to the other side of our grief.
Ashes used to be thrown on the head of those who mourned. Thank God, when Jesus came, he exchanged the ashes of mourning for a crown of beauty. We who accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord are crowned with glory and beauty because of the great exchange of Jesus on the cross. We do not have to stay in the place of mourning with his help.
I enCOURAGE you to run to the Kings of Kings during your mourning time. He will help you don your crown of beauty.
