Psalm 138:1-8 NKJV
This song of David rocked my world early this year. God used it to love me back into His merciful arms. He did the same last night and this morning. I was wound up tight from lack of sleep. Sleep eluded me this whole week. I was in a tight place. I literally felt like my skin was crawling off my back. I was hot and I was cold. I wanted cover off, then I wanted it on. The Lord mercifully brought me five hours of sweet sleep and this song was waiting for me, again, this morning. This is a slow-read, deep-dig into Psalm 138. Enjoy.
I will praise
I will throw
I will shoot
I will cast
I will hold out my hand
I will celebrate
I will confess
I will point out
YOU LORD
with my whole heart
with my inner man
from my midst
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
I will worship
I will bow down
I will lay prostrate
toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for
Your lovingkindness
Your mercy
Your goodness
And
Your truth
Your stability
Your trustworthiness
Your faithfulness
Your certainty
Your uprightness
Your firmness
Your support
Your staying power
You who props up
You who builds up
You unshakeable
You who bears me in Your arms
You have magnified Your word above all Your name
In the day
In the heat of the day
In the heat of the battle
When it was hot
When I cried out
You answered
You had your eye on me
You paid attention
You responded
You spoke
You sang over me
You shouted over me
You made me bold
You urged me on
You sured me up
Your strengthened me
You made me be fierce
You made me courageous
with strength, boldness, might and power
in my soul
in my inner man
in my breath
All the kings of the earth shall praise You,
O LORD, when they hear the words of Your mouth.
Yes, they shall sing of
the ways, the trodden road, the journey, and the distance
of the LORD,
For the greatest is the glory, the weight, and the heaviness
of the LORD.
The LORD is on high, yet
He regards me
He respects me
He considers me
He looks at me
He sees me
He sees the lowly
He sees the “Lowe”
He sees the depressed
He sees the cast down
But the proud He knows from afar, remotely
Though I walk in the midst of trouble
Though I walk in a tight place
Though I walk in a narrow place.
You will revive me
You will breathe on me
You will cause me to flourish
You will cause me to live well
You will prosper me
You will keep me safe and sound
You will heal me
You will refresh me
You will restore me to life
You will me call back to life
You will keep me alive
You will stretch out Your hand
against the wrath, anger, the hard breathing, nose, and face
of my enemies
of the persecutor
of the one who hatefully huffs and puffs down my neck
Your “right” hand will save me
You will open up things for me
You will make things wide and free
You will avenge
You will defend
You will deliver
You will help
You will preserve
You will rescue
You will get the victory
The LORD will perfect
The LORD will complete
The LORD will finish
that which concerns me.
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever
Your lovingkindness, O LORD, endures forever
Your goodness, O LORD, endures forever
Do not forsake
Do not let go
Do not throw down
Do not slack
Do not idle
Do not desert
Do not be lazy with
the works of Your hands
the doing of Your hands
the intricate needlework where you weave various colors of my life together
the art, every master stroke of your masterpiece.
I enCOURAGE you today with merciful, good, kind, loving words of our Father. This song of David was salve that healed a wounded heart. Be encouraged by God’s words. Slow read this again. Say it out loud. This belongs to you as much as it was and is for me. Be healed. HIS MERCY SEES YOU, SAVES YOU, COMPLETES YOU, AND GAINS THE VICTORY! Glory to God.
Yes and Amen! Glory to God!! ❤❤❤
