2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) If my people…shall humble themselves…
He is talking to us. We are his people. We must become humble. The Hebrew word for humble is kana meaning, bow your knee. submit, be low. Why must we humble ourselves? What does it mean to be humble before God? A humble attitude doesn’t say “I.” A humble attitude surrenders and says:
We need God.
We cannot do it on our own.
God can do it better and faster.
God has a better plan than we do.
God is the center of the universe and we are not.
God is in control and we are not.
God is great and we are small.
God is right.
God is God and we are not.
We can do nothing without him, but all things with him.
We own nothing. We have nothing. We are nothing without Him. We cannot solve all problems, but he has all answers. He wants us to come to him.
We need God.
Why must we humble ourselves? Let me ask this…
Why did Lucifer fall? PRIDE! He thought that he was all that. He thought he was the shining the light. He was just a mirror reflecting the light, the glory of God. Pride destroyed Lucifer and gave him a new name, Satan. (Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.)
God says in Proverbs 6:16-19 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: He lists what he hates. At the top of the list in verse 17, A proud look….Pride is at the top of the list!
In James 4:6-7 (KJV) The Word says…”But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
God resists the proud: the one who thinks he is better than another, above the crowd, the superior thinking, big headed, egotistical, bloated opinion of self, the exaggerated, the self-centered. You know the proud:
“Mines better than yours. I know better than you. My President is better than yours. I am smarter than you. I am better than you. I live in a nicer house. I drive a better car. I make more money. I am prettier…
The Greek word for resist in James 4;6, is antitassō. It means an order of “military might who sets itself against and successfully wages war against, the non compliant in order to crush the enemy.” Ouch! God hates the proud. He resists the proud. Pride is a repellent to God! He is attracted to the humble, the low in mind, the one who thinks small of himself and big of God; the meek, the modest, the God centered. He gives grace, unmerited favor to the humble. He gets involved in the humble life.
In James 4:10, we are directed to, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” He will elevate us to the places he has planned for us. He will elevate us to protection from the enemy. We just need to recognize and give him the credit because we cannot do without him. the word of the Lord in 1 Peter 5:6: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
I enCOURAGE you to humble yourself. Get rid of the pride. I would much rather be lifted up, exalted and elevated by God because I choose to humble myself than to be resisted by God. “You are never to small for God to use but you may be too big.”-Rick Renner

I know why the Holy Spirit leads me to focus in November and December. It is easy for me to get caught up in:

Yesterday, I began with devotion time, but I did not dedicate the day to the Lord.“I” wanted to finish editing about 2000 pictures on my computer. “I” had a plan but God had another. Honestly, I was not thrilled about His request. His plan required me to get real and honest with y’all. So, here we go. This story is about some renovations He needed to make in me.
What a difference a week, a day, an hour, a minute, a second, a nanosecond makes! Extreme pain to extreme gain! Parker Phillips, our son, plays baseball for Austin Peay State University. Parker likes to compete and often chooses to play through the pain. On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, his wrist was hurting so badly that he opted to miss the road trip to Southern Illinois. Instead, he visited the orthopedic clinic. It was suggested that he had a small internal ganglion cyst, and that an MRI would be scheduled to confirm there was no further damage to his wrist. This was not a “Bible Bump” that we could hit with the physical Word of God, a Bible and it would just disappear. I hit it with the Word. My response was “Be healed wrist! Be healed!” This was not a statement I made lightly. I believed it. Our pray warriors continued praying for Parker.
