WHAT IS THE DESIRE OF YOUR HEART?

Isn’t it funny that a destination point marker looks much like a completed question mark?

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NKJV)

I was talking with a loved and trusted sister in Christ about a serious concern. Afterwards, our conversation went in many different directions.  At one time, I thought we were going down one path.  She went in a completely different direction and caught me completely off guard by asking me the question I am asking you, “What is the desire of your heart?”  I was confused.  She expounded, “If you could ask the Lord to do anything or many things for you, what would you ask Him?  What do you want?”  The question was provoking.  I gave her an answer with little thought. I think I said, “to delight  in the Lord and to get published, whatever that looks like.”

This question deserved more consideration. It would require me to put on my mud boots and to dig deep.  After I replied to her, I laid the question down on the table beside my comfy chair.  It was Saturday night and I had to get ready for a party.  I determined I would pick it up again another day.

Fast forward five days, I was perusing Instagram and read the following @THEZIGZIGLAR: “Are you ready to start crushing your goals?”  My memory was stirred, “What is the desire of your heart?” The screen above the Zig Ziglar question read:

Setting Your Goals in Four Easy Steps→

( I swept right to the next screen.)

STEP ONE:
Let your imagination run wild, and write down everything you want to be, do, or have.  When you write, your concentration is greater and you burn the idea more undeniably into your mind!

(Zig Ziglar was posing the same question formatted a bit differently.  I guess I needed to pick the question back up.  It had been posed to me twice within a week.)

Swipe right again…

STEP TWO:
Wait 24-48 hours and answer the question for every goal you wrote down.  If you cannot verbalize it, then it is a dream and not a goal.

Swipe right…

STEP THREE:
Divide your goal into three categories.  Short range (1 month or less); intermediate (1 year or less); Long range (1+years)

Swipe right…

STEP FOUR:
Prayerfully choose four of your goals that are most important and decide what you need to start working on today.  Remember, motivation comes after your start a project.

As a new month rolls around, it is a time for new beginnings.  Seasons will change, and I believe it is time for a new season in my life.  How about yours?

I enCOURAGE you to join me and answer the question, “What is the desire of your heart?”  If you have already accepted this challenge and are well on your way, CONGRATULATIONS!  Pray for the rest of us.  If you have not responded, do not table it for too long.  You are only delaying your destiny.

“Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring [it] to pass.” (Psalm 37:5 NKJV)
